Neighborhood guide

From the jetty to Morro do Careca, someone to show you every meter.

From Barra Sul to Praia Brava, and beyond the postcard: each neighborhood with the profile of the people who choose it, with no development names and no prices. As you scroll, the city shows you where each one is.

LANDMARK: CENTRO

Centro

For those who want everything within walking distance and the sea at the window

Centro is the whole of Praia Central, with Avenida Atlântica on one side and the life of the city on the other: bakery, pharmacy, restaurant and promenade a few steps from any door. It is the densest and most vertical neighborhood, where tower and beach share the same block. Whoever chooses Centro trades silence for convenience and gains the shoreline as an extension of the living room. I like to visit here at the end of the afternoon, when the shadow of the towers reaches the sand.

What weighs in the choice

  • Praia Central and the promenade at the door
  • Shops and services without a car
  • Lively all year round

LANDMARK: BARRA SUL

Barra Sul

For those who want the skyline as scenery and the marina as routine

Barra Sul is the southern tip of Praia Central: the jetty, the mouth of the Camboriú river, the cable car station of Parque Unipraias and the tallest cluster of towers in the city. The water is calmer near the jetty and the sun sets behind the towers, against the light. It is the address of those who want a wide view, recent buildings and the crossing to Praia de Laranjeiras right there. It is busier on weekends and in summer; during the week, the promenade breathes.

What weighs in the choice

  • Jetty, marina and cable car
  • The tallest and most recent towers
  • Open view over the whole shoreline

LANDMARK: FERRIS WHEEL

Barra Norte

For those who want a wide beach, a family routine and the city close by

Barra Norte is the northern side of Praia Central, where the strip of sand grows wider and the buildings lower. The Ferris wheel marks the neighborhood and Morro do Careca closes the view in the background. The pace is calmer than in Centro, with a square, a school and a bakery on the way home, and the shoreline is the same, only with more room to spread out a towel. It is where I start the conversation with families moving here with children.

What weighs in the choice

  • The widest sand on the shoreline
  • Lower buildings and quiet streets
  • The Ferris wheel and Morro do Careca

BEYOND THE POSTCARD, TO THE NORTH

Pioneiros

For those who prefer a quiet street to a sea view

Pioneiros sits inland, west of the shoreline, between Centro and the way out of the city. It is a neighborhood of residential streets, mid-rise buildings and houses with a backyard, with the connecting avenue close by for those who drive in and out every day. The beach is a bike ride away, not a window away. Whoever chooses Pioneiros wants to live in Balneário Camboriú without paying for the shoreline and without giving up the city.

What weighs in the choice

  • Residential streets and quiet
  • Easy access for those who drive
  • Mid-rise buildings and houses

BEYOND THE POSTCARD, TO THE NORTH

Praia Brava

For those who want open sea, waves and the sunrise at the window

Praia Brava lies to the north, on the other side of Morro do Careca, facing the open sea. It is a beach of waves, with surfers early in the morning and a horizon with no jetty or island in front. The buildings are newer and the neighborhood is still taking shape, which attracts people who like to watch the neighborhood grow with them. Centro is a few minutes away by car, but it feels like another city, quieter and windier.

What weighs in the choice

  • Open sea and sunrise
  • Recent buildings and a neighborhood taking shape
  • Surf and walks on the sand

BEYOND THE POSTCARD, TO THE SOUTH

Estaleiro and Estaleirinho

For those who want a house, forest and silence, without losing the city

Estaleiro and Estaleirinho are two beaches south of Barra Sul, reached by the road that threads the wilder beaches together. Here the landscape changes: hills covered in forest, houses and low-rise gated communities instead of towers, and a sea you can hear from the backyard. It is the address of those who want nature close by and the city one bend of the road away. At night, the sky has stars the shoreline does not let you see.

What weighs in the choice

  • Houses and low-rise gated communities
  • Atlantic forest and wild beaches
  • Silence and a starry sky

BEYOND THE POSTCARD, TO THE SOUTH

Taquaras

For those who want village life by the sea

Taquaras is a small beach to the south with the feel of a village: fishing boats on the sand, simple restaurants and a short promenade where everyone greets each other. The sea is calm and the afternoon goes by slowly. Whoever chooses Taquaras is looking for a small-town routine with the sea at the door and accepts that the big city is a few minutes away by car. I take those who want to slow down to see the neighborhood in the middle of the week.

What weighs in the choice

  • Fishing village and calm beach
  • Restaurants by the sea
  • A slow routine and close neighbors

BEYOND THE POSTCARD, TO THE SOUTH

Laranjeiras

For those who want a cove of their own, one cable car ride from the city

Praia de Laranjeiras is the cove just beyond the hill of Barra Sul, where the Parque Unipraias cable car comes down. The water is calm, sheltered by hills on both sides, and the strip of sand has restaurants and tour boats. It is a day-off place that some people choose to live in, for the feeling of refuge a few minutes from Centro. Whoever settles on Laranjeiras needs to enjoy winding roads and silent late afternoons.

What weighs in the choice

  • A cove of calm water
  • Cable car and hills on both sides
  • A refuge close to Barra Sul
